Scorecard is government-designed and operated and offers a robust, high-quality approach to improving your home’s energy efficiency. We use the Scorecard software as an evidence-based framework to help you identify and prioritise larger efficiency upgrades such as insulation, heating, or air conditioning.
Scorecard rates the thermal shell and fixed appliances of your home and helps you identify where your opportunities and priorities are to help improve comfort, energy cost, and sustainability.
What is covered:
Thermal shell – areas where heat is gained in summer and lost in winter.
– Cookers/microwaves
– Whitegoods e.g. fridges, laundry appliances
– Televisions, electronics, IT equipment
– Any other household appliances
Fixed appliances – major items that contribute to your energy costs in some way.
If you’d like an assessment that covers any of these areas, consider having a Home Energy Assessment.
What is not covered:
Occupants of the home & their behaviours
– Cookers/microwaves
– Whitegoods e.g. fridges, laundry appliances
– Televisions, electronics, IT equipment
– Any other household appliances
Occupants of the home & their behaviours
If you’d like an assessment that covers any of these areas, consider having a Home Energy Assessment.

The Process
We will speak to you about what you need from an assessment and narrow down the right assessment type for you.
We will send you a quote to accept before starting any work so there are no hidden costs or nasty surprises.
We will schedule a time that’s convenient for you for an accredited assessor to visit your home.
Before your appointment, please ensure that we can access each area in the house, and secure any dogs or other hazards.
In general, a Scorecard assessment takes between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This may be longer or shorter depending on the size & complexity of your home. Your assessor will generally:
- Speak with you about your priorities, needs and wants, any upgrade ideas you’re already tossing up, and your goals for the assessment.
- We ask that you read and sign a privacy statement before collecting any information or photographs.
- None of your personal belongings or information is ever included in photos – this is enforced for all accredited assessors.
- For more information about privacy and Scorecard, click here.
- Visit each room in the home to take measurements, collect data, and photograph key building features or appliances.
- Discuss any preliminary findings & recommendations with you at the end of data collection.
- Explain what information is shown on the Scorecard certificate and what it means for your home.
For most Scorecard assessments, you can expect to receive your final certificate and assessment report within 3-5 business days. We also send you an invoice at this time – there is no need to pay on the day!
In addition to your Scorecard Certificate, YESS provides a tailored report to each customer. Your report will be personalised to you and contain advice & recommendations to help guide improvements to your home’s thermal shell & fixed appliances. If you raise any particular questions or concerns with your assessor during your home visit, those will also be addressed in the report.
We have also produced a detailed Energy Efficiency Guide for Adelaide householders that we provide for free with each Scorecard assessment. This guide is packed with helpful information on what to look out for during upgrades, local providers we recommend, info on government rebates & subsidies, and plenty of other helpful resources.
