Thanks to the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS), you can access multiple benefits to save energy consumption and reduce your energy bills. Priority Group households can access the Home Essentials upgrade products (listed below) for free, while Non-Priority Group households can access the benefits by paying a one-off $33 REPS Surcharge.

REPS Home Essentials cannot be undertaken twice at the same address.

Energy-Efficient Products

Energy-Efficient
LED A-Globes

YESS are able to replace your old inefficient incandescent globes with more energy-efficient LED A-globes and Floodlights. LED globes to consume up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs, have a longer lifespan, produce less heat, and are environmentally friendly.

Under the REPS Scheme, we can exchange up to 40 globes. We use high-quality Emerald Planet A-Globes and Floodlights.

Standby Power Controllers

Standby Power Controllers (SPC) help to reduce standby power use by automatically switching the power off to your TV & entertainment appliances when they are left unattended or in standby mode, they retail for $100 and can save you up to $140* per year off your electricity bills for each device installed.

Under the REPS Scheme, we can install up to 3 SPC devices. To be eligible for an SPC install, A TV + one other device that uses stand by power must be plugged into the SPC. That can be a TV + BluRay, TV+DVD, TV+ Sound System etc.

Energy Saving Av Controller - Energy-Efficient Products

We do not recommend plugging in devices with hard drives such as some gaming systems or if you use a recording function. The Emerald Planet SPC is designed to power down devices plugged into the SPC after 57 minutes of inactivity. You get a warning prior to power down with a flashing red light and if you are still watching something, you can let the SPC know by pressing a button on your remote. If you have a new SmartTV with a Bluetooth remote, these devices may not work for you.

Water-Efficient Shower Heads

Some showerheads use as much as 25L per minute! If your showerhead uses more than 9L of water per minute. YESS can replace it with a high-quality energy-efficient shower head with a flow rate of 7.5L per minute, with both fixed arm and hose attached options. Save on utility costs!

YESS can install up to 3 shower heads into your home if you meet installation eligibility.

Chimney Dampers

While it will keep you warm in winter, an open chimney during the warmer months can significantly increase your energy use & carbon footprint over the course of the year. YESS is offering FREE or SUBSIDISED chimney dampers/draught excluders to eligible householders under the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme.

Please note these Chimney Dampers are only suitable for open fireplaces & are not suitable for combustion fireplaces.

REPS (Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme) is an SA Government initiative that helps households and businesses reduce their energy costs. It commenced on January 1st, 2021, replacing the old REES, which (along with the previous Residential Energy Efficiency Scheme) had been in place for over a decade. This scheme helps South Australians get more value from their energy.

Under the REPS program, the Minister for Energy and Mining will require energy retailers in South Australia to provide incentives for SA households and businesses to achieve energy savings and potentially lower their energy bills. Energy retailers that exceed certain thresholds are set annual targets for delivering energy efficiency activities to households and businesses. Many obliged retailers use the services of third-party contractors of the scheme, such as YESS.

The REPS is available to all eligible South Australian residential energy customers and many South Australian businesses.

Some REPS activities may require a minimum co-contribution payment to be made by customers. Exemptions are available to residential customers in a ‘priority group household. Non-priority group household customers have a mandatory one-off $33 REPS fee to pay per premises.

The service is free* for Priority Group Households.
If you are not in a Priority Group Household, you must pay a $33 REPS surcharge to access REPS’s benefits. This payment is only required once per address.

No. Downlights are included in the REPS scheme; however, the subsidy set for the activity is too low to benefit the customer, as DEM and ESCOSA deemed the energy savings of this activity to be minimal.

We previously provided the service when the energy savings/subsidy was higher under the REES scheme; however, in 2021, the scheme changed to REPS, and the value of the activity dropped.

Due to this, YESS do not upgrade downlights to LEDs because for us to do so would be at standard market rates for the customer and as a company, we have made the decision not to operate in this field.

There are both warm and cool white globes available.

We can upgrade most standard bulbs over 42W. However, the scheme requires us to exchange the bulbs one for one, so we are unable to install globes into empty sockets or replace blown or non-working globes.

We can upgrade any Incandescent or Halogen Round Glass Globes, Candlestick Globes, or flood lights over 42Ws. Downlights are not included in this service.

We are unable to change over any fluorescent light fitting, including tubes, ring lights or CFL (compact fluorescent lights), under the residential portion of the REPS Scheme.

Households in the Priority Group can access the listed services at no cost. However, non-priority group households are required to pay a $33 REPS surcharge. This payment is a one-time requirement per address, regardless of the number of “home essentials” services claimed.

You are not able to keep your old globes or showerheads. REPS requires us to recycle and take out of circulation the inefficient products as part of the activity requirements.

For an SPC to be installed to meet the requirements of the REPS program, there must be a TV plugged into the Parent Socket, and at a minimum 1 child device plugged in.

A child device can be a DVD/Blu-Ray Player, Older Gaming Systems (no internal hard drives), or Sound Equipment such as surround sound or a soundbar.

Your TV must use an infrared remote control and not have its own power-saving functions. For example, most newer smart televisions have these functions, or they use Bluetooth technology in the remote and are incompatible with the SPC.

The SPC has a sensor that you will sit in front of the TV. It will start to flash a red light after 57 Minutes. When it starts flashing, it wants to know that you are still watching the TV and want it to stay switched on. You let the SPC know this by pressing a button on your TV’s remote control. We generally recommend pressing the volume button at this point. Once you do this it will reset it for another 57 minutes.

The Minister for Energy and Mining defines a priority group household as residential premises in which a person resides who:

Holds a Commonwealth Government pensioner concession card
Holds a TPI Gold Repatriation Health Card
Holds a War Widows Gold Repatriation Health Card
Holds a Gold Repatriation Health Card (EDA)
Holds a Health Care Card (including a Low-Income Health Care Card)
Receives the South Australian government energy bill concession
Has a residential tenancy agreement with the landlord of the premises, and the rent for the premises is $500 or less per week
Is actively participating in an energy retailer hardship program
Is actively participating in an energy retailer’s payment plan (offered and applied as per section 50 of the National Energy Retail Law)
Has received a referral from a registered member of the South Australian Financial Counsellors Association (SAFCA).

2. For Non-Priority Group households, there is a mandatory REPS co-contribution of $33 (inc GST) which applies regardless of how many products are installed. If you or a previous tenant have previously made a REPS co-contribution for a different activity at your address within the last 5 years, you may be eligible to have this $33 fee waived. You can contact the YESS office on 1300 894 745 and speak to the residential services team who can check if this fee has already been paid at your address.
3. Payment must be made on the day of installation. Payment can be made by EFTPOS via the Runabout app on our authorised representative’s device, by cash, or over the phone by calling the YESS office on 1300 894 745 and speaking to our accounts team.
4. Each REPS activity can only be provided once per address.
