How to save on your energy bills in 2022
If you are a resident of South Australia looking to cut your energy bills, the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme could be the answer you’re looking for.
This energy-saving scheme provides incentives for South Australian households and businesses to save energy, and save on their electricity bills. To understand how the REPS can benefit you, consider the following information about this program.
What is REPS?
The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a state government initiative that encourages retailers to help households and businesses save energy and money.
How does it work?
It’s pretty simple: most of us want to save money on our energy bills, but sometimes we don’t know how to do it. The REPS offers a variety of energy-saving incentives to all residents of South Australia through trusted third-party contractors such as Your Energy Saving Solutions (YESS).
The scheme focuses on low-income households; however, the REPS is available to all South Australians. It doesn’t matter if you live alone or with family; whether you have energy-efficient appliances or not, if you’re a homeowner or not – every SA household can access the scheme.
Some REPS activities may, however, be subject to some restrictions. For example, Ceiling Insulation and Hot Water Systems are not available for Public Housing. Similarly, renters will need landlord permission for Ceiling Insulation, Hot Water Systems and Air Conditioning activities. Check for each activity’s terms and conditions to see if your household is eligible.
Which REPS benefits can be accessed through YESS?
The scheme is designed to help people save money and reduce energy bills by incentivising them with a variety of activities to make their homes more energy-efficient, which will ultimately result in savings on their electricity bills!
At YESS, we provide South Australians with the broadest range of REPS activities for their home and business. YESS offers numerous REPS benefits to help you save energy and money. The best part is that you can access all of them – Keep in mind that there may be some requirements depending on the activity

2. Appliance Rebate

3. Secondary Fridge Recycling

Get your old fridge collected and receive compensation for it. You can learn more about the service areas and rates here.
4. Hot Water Systems
Installing a new Energy-Efficient hot water system could be more cost-effective than repairing your old one. Whether your hot water is not very warm or is slow to run through, you can apply for an Energy-Efficient system with significant discounts in units and installation that can help you save energy while providing better comfort and long-term savings. Contact YESS to learn more about this offer.
5. Ceiling Insulation
Ceiling insulation can help reduce energy costs by helping keep your air conditioning on during winter months and keeping warm air in during summertime—all while saving on your utility bills. South Australian priority group households are eligible for a subsidised ceiling insulation installation by a licensed installer. You can learn more about this great offer here.
6. LED Lights, Water Efficient Showerheads, Standby Power Controllers and Chimney Dampers (Home Essentials)
Saving power at home doesn’t mean abandoning all your home comforts. There are plenty of ways to save on energy costs and stay cosy by taking simple steps. The first step to saving money with your energy bill is reducing your overall energy consumption. One way to do that is by reducing your demand – or how much power you use at a given time.
LEDs bulbs light up instantly, require little maintenance, and consume up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs. Efficient showerheads can save water and money, while chimney dampers prevent heat escaping from your house—and save on energy bills. Standby power controllers ensure that when your appliances aren’t in use, they’re switched off entirely and not just put into standby mode.
